Leadership Apprentice Program
NEXT-GEN INTERN PROGRAM
In order to help facilitate the future growth of Pacific Western Transportation Ltd, it is essential that we acquire a pool of highly-talented candidates for specific leadership positions. In response to this need, we have developed the NextGen Intern Program.
PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE
The LAP program focuses on creating and stocking a pool of candidates with high leadership potential. The program also ensures that these key people are developed by a planning training program to move into future leadership roles.
Objectives:
- To have people available for future growth
- Increase Management capability and flexibility
- Increase the depth of leadership
Qualifications for Apprentices
The following are qualifications that an intern should possess.
Typical job duties consist of 12 hour workday and may include shift work:
- Adaptable
- Ambition
- Integrity
- Interest in the transportation industry
- Post secondary education an asset and/or expertise in the industry
- Effective written and verbal communication skill
- Results oriented
- Responsive
- Interest in learning
- People skills
- Good work ethic
- Able to move
The mentor will submit to the Corporate Office a plan of rotation for the leadership Apprentice. The time frame of the program is one to two years depending on how well the candidate completes the program.
The NextGen Intern will play a key role in the following areas:
- Dispatch/Operations
- Maintenance
- Driving
- Safety/Training
- Contracts/Administration
